Red velvet chocolate indulgence brownies

Red velvet chocolate indulgence brownies

Hello! I’ve been busy coming up with valentine’s day treats, and yesterday I made a doozy.

Do you remember the dessert “death by chocolate”? It reminds me of that. If you are a chocolate lover, or you know someone who is, this is the recipe for you.

Red velvet brownies. Oreo truffle filling. Chocolate ganache. Mini chocolate chips. It’s all here in one recipe.

Join me for an adventure in chocolate…

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 box red velvet cake mix

1 cup butter (melted)

2 eggs

1 package Oreos (crushed)

1 bag milk chocolate chips

1 bag mini chocolate chips

1 cup heavy whipping cream

Ok. Let’s do this!

Preheat oven to 350°

Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with aluminum foil. Spray with nonstick cooking spray.

In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together cake mix, eggs and 1/2 cup melted butter. Mix until smooth.

Press red velvet mixture evenly into baking dish. Bake for 15-18 minutes. You want the brownies to be just set. You don’t want to overcook these brownies!

Red velvet brownies

Now you could stop there. You’d have an amazing batch of red velvet brownies. Everyone would love them, but they’ll love them even more if you keep going.

Time to make the next delicious layer… the Oreo truffle filling.

Crush Oreos in a food processor, or by placing them in a zip top bag and crushing with a rolling pin. You want them to be fine crumbs.

Combine crushed Oreos and 1/2 cup melted butter and mix well.

Pour Oreo mixture over brownies and press gently in an even layer.

Now let’s get to the amazing ganache.

Place milk chocolate chips in a medium sized bowl.

Bring heavy whipping cream to a low boil, then pour over chocolate chips.

Let chips and whipping cream sit for 5 minutes, then whisk to combine until smooth and thick.

Pour ganache over the Oreo layer.

Chocolate ganache

Finally, top with mini chocolate chips.

Place in refrigerator for 45 minutes – 1 hour to allow ganache to set up.

That’s it! Now cut into bars and serve!

Mini chocolate chip topping

Prepare for chocolate bliss. May I suggest small bars? Even The Girl Child and My Man, who LOVE chocolate, could only eat about half the portion they thought they could. The Girl Child had one this morning too. Breakfast of champions, am I right?

Thanks for stopping by!
