Bacon Cheeseburger Salisbury Steaks
Hello! I was watching The Kitchen on Food Network one morning. They were doing kid friendly recipes, and Sunny Anderson made Easy Bacon Cheeseburger Salisbury Steaks. It caught my attention.
I love the idea of this recipe because we love bacon cheeseburgers and Salisbury steak. I thought it was brilliant bringing the two together. I looked up the recipe, (https://pin.it/SGVlDmg) and after reading the comments, I decided to give it a try.
Of course, as I always do, I changed it up a bit. My ingredients are slightly different than the original, but I used the original recipe as my framework.
It was a big hit with both The Girl Child and My Man, and of course me!
It’s a simple recipe and it only uses one pan! It was very filling. I actually made 6 steaks and we ate 4. So, we had next day leftovers for My Man to take for lunch.
If you think this sounds like something your family would like, here’s what you’ll need:
1 1/2 – 2 lbs ground beef (I use 93% lean)
1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
1/4 cup yellow mustard
1/4 cup ketchup
2 TBSP minced onion
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp McCormick California Style Garlic Pepper
1 tsp McCormick California Style Garlic Powder
1 1/2 tsp McCormick Hamburger Seasoning
1/2 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
Red pepper flakes to taste
6 slices bacon (crumbled)
2 cups beef stock
2 cups heavy cream
6 Kraft American Cheese Singles
12 oz egg noodles
1/2 cup parsley (chopped)
Ok. Let’s do this!
In a large bowl, season ground beef with salt, garlic powder, garlic pepper and hamburger seasoning.
Add minced onion, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, ketchup and breadcrumbs.
Use your hands to combine ingredients. Just get in there and squish it together like you are making a meatloaf. Mix well.
To make the steaks, form the meat mixture into tennis ball sized balls. Press them down into 1/2 inch thick ovals.
In a large, deep skillet, fry the bacon. When bacon is browned, set aside on a paper towel lined plate to drain.
Add the steaks to the bacon drippings in the pan. Cook over medium high heat until browned on both sides, like making a hamburger. Carefully flip steaks, meat is looser than a hamburger patty. Brown for about 3 – 5 minutes per side, depending on how done you like your meat. Remove steaks from pan and set aside.
The meat will be loose and may fall apart. That’s fine! As My Man says, it all eats the same.
In the same pan, add the beef broth and deglaze the pan. Scrape up all the browned bits from the bottom and any small pieces of meat that may have fallen off. That adds to the flavor of the sauce!
Add the heavy cream and the 6 slices of cheese. Stir to combine.
After cheese has melted, add red pepper flakes to taste.
Bring sauce to a boil and stir in uncooked noodles.
Nestle the steaks into the noodles and sauce.
Turn the heat to medium low. Cover and allow to simmer for 15 – 20 minutes, or until noodles are done.
Stir in crumbled bacon and parsley.
I really think you and your family will love this meal. It’s easy to make and so full of flavor! You’ll want to add this to your weeknight meal rotation!
