Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits With Bacon Peanut Butter Glaze

Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits With Bacon Peanut Butter Glaze

Hello! I’ve been feeling pretty rough this last week. It’s been tough just trying to cook for the family and keep up with the blog and social media.

Normally, I make treats for my 6 pack every week. With 6 dogs they go pretty quickly! Last week I didn’t make them any, so they settled for store bought dental chews. Today I decided to make them some special treats, hoping they’d forget I neglected to make any last week.

I had some pumpkin that I needed to use, and I’ve always got peanut butter. So, I decided to make pumpkin peanut butter dog biscuits. To make them even more special I added a bacon peanut butter glaze to them.

I think I’ve been forgiven. Chief and Chewy happily volunteered to be my testers. They loved the flavors! So, I made 70 (2 1/4 inch) star shaped treats. That sounds like a lot, but I’ve got 6 dogs and the treats aren’t that big.

These treats are 100% 6 pack approved! If you’d like to treat your pack, or lone dog, here’s what you’ll need:

1 cup canned pumpkin

2 eggs

3/4 cup creamy peanut butter (divided)

2 1/2 cups flour (whole wheat if worried about allergies or nutrients)

1/4 cup oil

1 tsp baking soda

2 TBSP bacon grease (melted)

Ok. Let’s do this!

Preheat oven to 350°

In a medium sized bowl, combine pumpkin, 1/2 cup peanut butter, eggs and oil.

Add in flour and baking soda. Stir with a wooden spoon until a soft dough forms.

On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out to approximately 1/4 inch thickness.

Cut shapes with cookie cutter or the top of a glass.

Place treats on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 15 minutes.

To make the glaze, whisk melted bacon grease and 1/4 cup of peanut butter together in a small bowl. If you don’t have bacon grease, you can use any fat that is solid at room temperature.

Drizzle the glaze over cooled treats. Don’t worry if the glaze doesn’t look perfect. They are dogs. They don’t care about your decorating ability. As long as there is glaze on it, they’ll be happy!

Allow the glaze to set before giving them to your dog. Placing the treats in the refrigerator or freezer for a bit helps speed the process along.

Chief: “Gimme that!”

I hope your dogs love these as much as the 6 pack do!
