Prepare the first poundcake batter, adding in food coloring to reach desired shade for the shape you will be making.
Bake first poundcake and allow to cool completely.
Cut poundcake into 1 1/2 inch slices.
Use a cookie cutter to cut desired shape out of the slices of poundcake.
Prepare pan for 2nd poundcake.
Stand cutouts up along the bottom of prepared pan.
Pour 2nd poundcake batter around and on top of cutouts.
Bake 2nd cake according to directions.
Allow cake to cool completely before cutting.
