My man’s favorite mistake cookies

My man’s favorite mistake cookies

Hello! I’m busy making My Man his favorite cookies. These cookies were created by accident. I was making Christmas cookies, and I messed up the batter for one of them. The batter tasted good, so I just went with it. I added some sprinkles and rolled them in more sprinkles and powdered sugar. I baked them and ended up with a delicious soft cookie.

My Man was hooked on these after 1 bite. I called them accidental cookies until recently. Then one day My Man said, “I think these are my favorite cooking mistake you’ve ever made.”

They are some damn good cookies, if I do say so myself. I think the lesson to be learned is, even if you “mess up” while you’re cooking, sometimes you come up with something even better than what you were trying to make in the first place! Just be sure to write down what you did so you can make it again!

These cookies are so much fun to make because you can use holiday sprinkles (my Christmas and valentine’s day cookies were so awesome!), rainbow sprinkles or any colors you choose! I always say that the dough looks like a party in a bowl!

So, if you’d like to recreate my mistake, here’s what you’ll need:

1/2 cup butter (softened)

8 oz cream cheese (softened)

1 egg

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 box cake mix (I use vanilla or funfetti)

1/2 cup sprinkles

1/2 cup powdered sugar

Ok. Let’s do this!

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and cream cheese.

Add egg and vanilla.

Beat in cake mix until well blended.

Stir in 1/4 cup sprinkles until evenly combined.

You now have a party in a bowl!

Completed cookie dough

Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 350°

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Form 1 inch balls with 1 TBSP of dough.

Pour sprinkles in a bowl or on a plate. Do the same with the powdered sugar.

Sprinkles

Roll dough balls in sprinkles, then in powdered sugar.

Dough ball rolled in sprinkles

How cute are these??

Arrange on cookie sheet.

Dough rolled in sprinkles and powdered sugar

Bake for 8-10 minutes.

Allow to cool on baking sheet for a few minutes before moving to cooling rack.

Completed cookies

Cookies will be soft when they come out and will set up a little more while cooling on baking sheet.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

I hope you enjoy my mistake as much as we do!

Thanks for stopping by!
