Peanut butter, bacon and cheddar dog treats
Hello! Today I’m veering off the normal path. I’m making dog treats!
I’ve got 6 dogs and buying treats can get expensive! I like the idea of knowing exactly what is in my dogs treats as well. So, today I’m making them some peanut butter, bacon and cheese treats. I cut them into heart shapes, because it’s almost valentine’s day. I’ve been making special treats for everyone else and I figured my buddies deserve some valentine’s treats too! My Man is currently giving me a hard time about the heart shapes, but that’s ok!
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 cup creamy peanut butter
3/4 cup milk
1 large egg
2 cups flour
1 TBSP baking powder
1/3 cup oats
4 slices bacon (chopped)
2/3 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
Ok. Let’s do this!
Preheat oven to 325°
Line baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
In a large bowl, combine peanut butter, egg and milk.
Whisk until smooth.
Add the flour and baking powder. Use your hands to work in the flour.
Mix in oats, bacon and cheese. Use your hands to fully combine.
Using a rolling pin on a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/4 inch thick.
Cut treats into shapes and arrange on baking sheet,
Bake for 18-20 minutes, until lightly browned.
Remove from oven and flip treats over.
Place back in oven for 10 minutes.
Allow treats to fully cool on cooling rack before giving them to your pupper.
I tried to get a picture of Chief with his treat, but he didn’t have time for that. Look at the drool on the couch cushion!!
Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
These treats have all 6 dogs seals of approval. I’ve never met a dog who doesn’t like peanut butter, bacon or cheese. I’m sure your dogs will approve too!
Thanks for stopping by!
